“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Nelson Mandela
Mrs. LaTonya Blassingame Gilliam is excited to begin her 23rd year in education as the new 7th Grade Assistant Principal at SEMS. She is proud to join the Stallion family and looks forward to building strong connections with students, staff, and families.
Before stepping into her current role, Mrs. Gilliam served as an Effective Practice Specialist with the Special School District of St. Louis County, focusing on Social, Emotional, and Behavioral (SEB) supports. In that position, she partnered with educators and staff to implement evidence-based practices, provide resources, engage in collaborative problem-solving, and address student needs in culturally responsive ways.
Mrs. Gilliam is eager to apply her experience and expertise to foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive school environment. She believes that when students’ basic needs are met, meaningful learning can flourish.
She looks forward to making this the best year yet for the Stallion community!
